By downloading, accessing, or using BetterSelf ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.
2. Description of Service
BetterSelf is an AI-powered conversation practice platform that provides:
- Simulated conversations with AI characters for social skills practice
- Real-time feedback and confidence scoring
- Guided learning journeys across categories (dating, career, social, networking, sales, public speaking, travel)
- Progress tracking and personalized improvement tips
Important: BetterSelf is an educational and practice tool. It is not a substitute for professional therapy, counseling, or mental health services. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, please contact a qualified professional or emergency services.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 17 years of age to use BetterSelf. By using the App, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement.
4. Account Registration
- You may create an account using Apple Sign In or email
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account
- You agree to provide accurate and current information
- You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account
- You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account

Billing Terms
- All payments are processed through the Apple App Store via RevenueCat
- Subscriptions auto-renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
- Free trials automatically convert to paid subscriptions unless canceled
- You can manage and cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID account settings
- Refunds are handled by Apple per their refund policies
- Prices may vary by region and are subject to change with notice
6. Acceptable Use
You agree NOT to:
- Use the App for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
- Attempt to harass, threaten, or abuse AI characters (the AI will disengage)
- Use sexually explicit, violent, or hateful language during practice sessions
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code
- Interfere with or disrupt the App's infrastructure
- Share your account credentials with others
- Use automated systems or bots to access the App
- Record or redistribute AI-generated content for commercial purposes
7. AI-Generated Content
- AI responses are generated in real-time and may vary each session
- AI characters are fictional and do not represent real people
- AI feedback scores are algorithmic assessments meant for practice, not professional evaluation
- We do not guarantee the accuracy, appropriateness, or completeness of AI-generated content
- AI conversations should not be relied upon for real-world advice on relationships, career, or personal matters
8. Voice Data
- The App requires microphone access for voice-based practice sessions
- Audio is recorded only during active practice sessions when you tap the microphone button
- Voice recordings are processed for transcription and then discarded

9. Intellectual Property
- BetterSelf and all related content, features, and functionality are owned by BetterSelf
- The App's design, code, AI models, scenarios, journeys, and branding are protected by intellectual property laws
- You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes
- You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works of any part of the App
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
The App is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to:
- Fitness for a particular purpose
- Accuracy or reliability of AI-generated content
- Uninterrupted or error-free service
- Results from using the App for social skills improvement
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, BetterSelf shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to:
- Loss of data or content
- Reliance on AI-generated feedback or advice
- Real-world outcomes from applying practiced conversation skills
- Service interruptions or technical issues
12. Account Termination
- You may delete your account at any time through the App settings
- We may suspend or terminate your account for violation of these Terms
- Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately
- Data deletion follows the timeline described in our Privacy Policy
13. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will provide notice of significant changes through the App or via email. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be resolved through binding arbitration, except where prohibited by law.
